Implant Systems and Back-up

CDIC uses Branemark, Steri-Oss and Endopore dental implant systems as they are all leaders in their field, complementing each other and enabling CDIC to offer the best possible treatment for all our patients. Developed by Professor P.I. Branemark in Gothenburg Sweden in 1965 the Branemark system of dental implants has the longest time period for documented research of any dental implant system. The Steri-Oss System is the world market leader in dental implants, supplying over 50% of the American market. Endopore is a relatively new system to the UK though it has been used in Canada for some time with outstanding results in difficult situations. Most patients who are treated with any of these three dental implant systems should expect life long replacements for their lost teeth. In fact, the first Branemark system patient, whose implants were placed in 1965, still has his original implants in function today.

The dental implant procedure not only involves the insertion of the implants themselves, but may involve other procedures to obtain the best possible result - for example bone grafting or soft tissue work. For the more complicated case or cases that cannot be carried out in the dental chair CDIC is fortunate to be able to draw upon the specialist advice, knowledge, back up and surgical expertise of two very important people.

Keith Jones M.B., B.Ch., B.D.S., F.D.S.R.C.S., F.R.C.S.
Dr Jones, who is qualified in both medicine and dentistry is a consultant in Maxillofacial surgery at the Derby Royal Infirmary. Having a keen interest in dental implants, he is an invaluable source of consultation for CDIC when major bone grafting is required

Raj Patel B.D.S., M.Sc., F.D.S.
Dr Patel spent two years at The Eastman in London studying for an M.Sc. in conservative dentistry. He is now a lecturer in Implantology at the University of Sheffield Dental School and ideally placed to advise and assist with more complicated cases.

The final members of the implant team are the technicians who make the teeth that fit onto the implants.

CDIC works mainly with the David Bird Dental Laboratory. The laboratory boast a highly trained team of technicians expert in the field of dental implantology and cosmetic dentistry. They regularly improve their skills and knowledge by attending numerous courses in the UK all over the world.

CDIC feel it is very important to use laboratories with a vast experience in implantology when carrying out implant work and this laboratory fit this criteria.
