Building from new allowed Mike Heads and his wife Linda to design a building that would be both practical and yet at the same time not look and feel like a dental surgery. This is born out by the very modern yet homely waiting rooms, designed to make patients feel at ease, the children's play area with its Play Station 2, the patient consultation room where patients can further discuss, in private, their proposed treatment and view before and after photographs of similar completed treatments and the general overall calming décor.

Since its opening The Dental Healthcare Centre has provided its patients with the highest standards of dental care, and has been equally praised by and visiting dentists for the excellent facilities which it offers. A finalist in innovation 1993 and a regional finalist in the Denplan practice of the year 1998 The Dental Healthcare Centre continues to provide some of the best dental facilities in the north east of England.
