CASE
19 – Full upper set of “TEETH IN A DAY”
Mr
K from Stockton aged 52
Mr
K referred himself to CDIC. He was so afraid of dentists that he
had not seen a dentist for many years and consequently his teeth
had deteriorated so much that they would all have to be extracted.
Mr K also has a very bad gag reflex making it almost impossible
for him to wear dentures and so he needed a solution by which he
could have a new set of implant supported teeth fitted the same
day as his own teeth were extracted.
Following
several pre-operative appointments Mr K attended one morning to
have his teeth extracted, the implants placed and impressions taken
for his new temporary teeth. Due to his fear of dental treatment
Mr K had this work was carried out under sedation.
A
dental technician attended CDIC and constructed a temporary set
of implant supported teeth which were fitted later in the afternoon
of the same.
Mr
K returned to CDIC two weeks later for his routine check appointment
and immediately opted to have the same procedure carried out on
his lower teeth.
The
temporary teeth will be left in place for up to six months to allow
all the bone and soft tissues to heal and then impressions will
be taken to make a permanent set of teeth. In time Mr K will have
full upper and lower implant supported teeth which will last him
many years.
Cost
of Mr K’s treatment if it had been carried out today would
be £12,000.00
