CASE
17 –Same Day single upper anterior tooth using a mini implant
Mrs
B from Ferryhill
Mrs B had worn
an upper partial plastic denture for many years and disliked the
fact that it was removable, that it irritated her mouth and that
it affected her enjoyment of food.
She
fell into the classic condition of when teeth are lost of also losing
a large proportion of the bone associated with the lost tooth. To
place a conventional implant would have meant undergoing a bone
augmentation procedure as well as placement of the implant. CDIC
uses a type of mini/midi implant that can be placed into narrow
bone and on placement automatically expands the bone to fit the
narrow diameter mini/midi implants. This was done for Mrs B and
as can be seen it produced a very good result.

Ms
B was aware before treatment started that this treatment plan would
produce a good but not perfect result in relation to the gum margin
round the tooth. Mrs B was prepared to accept this as using a mini/midi
implant did not involve any surgery and when she smiles she does
not show the gum margin round the tooth. She is very happy with
the look and feel of her new permanently fixed tooth.
The
cost of Mrs B’s treatment if carried out today would be £1250.00
