CASE
1 – Single upper anterior tooth.
Mr. L from Stockton
born 1954
This
patients upper left central incisor tooth had to be extracted because
of a vertical root fracture. He was initially provided with a partial
denture but hated wearing it and only used it when aesthetics demanded
he have a tooth in place. It was not possible to restore the missing
tooth with a stick on bridge due to how Mr. L’s teeth met.
Mr L was also not willing to have a conventional bridge made as
this would have meant cutting down his adjacent healthy teeth and
so he was provided with a single dental implant and a crown to match
his adjacent teeth.

The
finished result in which it is difficult to tell the difference
between the natural teeth and the implant supported crown. |
Mr
L wrote to CDIC expressing how pleased he was with the finished
tooth and how it felt and looked like a real one. He also commented
that although the treatment was expensive it was money well spent.
The
cost of Mr L’s treatment if it had been carried out today
would be £2,200.
