When I was 15, I was on the other side of the dental chair and needed a tooth removing for orthodontic purposes (braces). I thought this was so interesting I asked the Dentist if I could come back for some work experience. I think he was a little taken aback! I found out that Dentistry was for me and graduated from Newcastle University in 2002. One of the first courses I attended as a qualified Dentist was actually organised by Mike!
After this, I undertook two further years of General Professional Training and achieved the MFDS from the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh. I have worked extensively in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and General Dental Practice and recently completed an advanced hands-on restorative course in Manchester. I am really excited about the treatments we can offer to create beautiful smiles, but always remember what it is like to be a patient myself.
I live with my partner David and a rescue cat - that seems to rule the roost! I enjoy going to the gym and embarking on mad challenges! In 2009 I raised over £3100 for Macmillan Cancer Support through a gruelling but brilliant 100km charity trek in Iceland and other fundraising events. I am proud to have contributed to this fantastic charity but don’t think I will be camping again for a while unless it’s completely dry!
My ambition is to run a Marathon – I have enjoyed the Great North Run on many occasions and hope to be able to build up to 26 miles – I did say I liked a challenge!
I feel very fortunate to be working here as everyone in the team is committed to providing the very best in dental care and makes it a great place to be.
I look forward to meeting you! |
